Therapy for Anxiety
You’re used to working hard and thinking ahead, but your mind rarely lets you feel finished. “What if I fail this test?” “What if my boss realizes I don’t know what I’m doing?” “What if my friends are upset with me?” Even when things go well, you may find yourself preparing for the next problem or replaying what you could have done differently. Anxiety can make school, work, and relationships feel like situations you have to get exactly right.
I provide anxiety therapy in Dallas for teens and young women who struggle with persistent worry, overthinking, and pressure to meet high expectations. Many of the girls and young women I see feel caught between “what if” thoughts and rigid rules: “If I don’t get an A, I’m falling behind,” “I should be able to handle everything without help,” or “If someone seems disappointed, I must have done something wrong.” These patterns can make it difficult to rest, make decisions, speak up, or enjoy the things you’ve worked hard for.
My approach uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. We’ll explore the assumptions behind your worry, practice more flexible ways of thinking, and notice when preparing turns into overpreparing or reflection turns into rumination.
Anxiety therapy can help you approach challenges with greater confidence in your ability to cope, even when the outcome is uncertain. Progress might mean letting one disappointing grade stay one grade, allowing yourself to be just average at something, or leaving a conversation without analyzing everything you said. You can care about your goals and relationships while making more room for rest, flexibility, and being yourself.
